I just received the voice message from Mr. Souders relating Scott's passing: I'm presently with my Parents and one Brother (Derek) at their home on Amelia Is., FL preparing for my Father's 88th birthday tomorrow, so the unfortunate news was spread rapidly. We are all very sorry for Scott's untimely passing and know that your whole family worked hard and stood by Scott through his entire difficulties. I'm sorry I couldn't have been more of a help over time and certainly near the end. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to comfort the Souders in this aftermath...Scott is a great guy, loyal friend and I'm sorry not to be able to speak and see him here anymore.

Mr. and Mrs Souders, I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. I met Scott @ Newington Childrens Hospital many years ago, while visiting my brother Mark. I remember going to Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine on a road trip with him and Mark, as well as going to my first concert in New York (Styx). Thank You Scott for everything you have done for our family, and especially Thank You being friends with my brother. Michael Torvinen

I am just so very sad for your loss. I will miss his phone calls to discuss the problems of the world. At least he is at peace now with no more pain, surgery or broken bones. My prayers go out for you and your family.

I learned today of Scott's passing. I had the distinct privilege of getting to know Scott over the past year, beginning last fall as his (then) new pest control provider. To know Scott was to know that he liked things done a certain way. He liked my "style" right away. Over the many months and services we got to know each other a bit and developed a great mutual respect. As we got to know each other better we found we shared a passion for our pets, and alternately reveled in and commiserated as we recounted our various pet stories. I'm sure that before the end came, Scott made arrangements for his beloved Teddy to be cared for. If, for whatever reason Teddy finds himself without a home, I think there is no better way for me to honor my friend Scott than to provide one. So, if Teddy finds himself without a good and loving home, for any reason, I have one for him. He'll have to share it with a loving little Bichon named Maggie, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem for Teddy. I may be contacted at the e-mail address provided. Scott, you and your big heart and rapier wit will be greatly missed.

I was sorry to hear of Scott's passing. Over the years of owning Tom E Toes Restaurant until I retired in 2007, Scott was a weekly customer that I enjoyed serving. He was a kind gentle man and I enjoyed knowing him.
