Obituary of Catherine F. Stevens

Catherine Frances Stevens, born Catherine Frances Fox on August 9, 1930, peacefully passed away on December 30, 2023, at the age of 93. Catherine was born in Mt Kisco, NY, and spent her final days in New Canaan, CT but she spent most of her life living in South Salem, NY having lived in her home on Lake Truesdale for 50 years.

 

Catherine loved her family and cherished her role as a grandmother. Catherine had a passion for cooking and baking. Her apple pie was renowned! Catherine also had a love for reading and enjoyed expressing her creativity through painting and drawing, although she was often shy about sharing her work.

 

Catherine is survived by her three loving children, Carrie Frances Sindelar, who is married to Joseph B. Sindelar, Jr. They have two children, Sara and her husband Matthew and Joe and his wife Margo. She is also survived by her daughter Kim Stevens Cafiero, who is married to Steve Cafiero, and their two daughters Kylie and Kristen. Catherine's son, Frank Sheridan Stevens IV, resides in Montreal, Canada, and has two children, Andreé and Frank.

 

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Frank S. Stevens, III, her parents, Frank and Catherine Fox, as well as her brother Tom Fox, and sisters Margaret Reilly and Mary Alpi.

 

Catherine attended Saint Francis Grade School in Mount Kisco, NY, and later graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Katonah, NY. She furthered her education by earning a bachelor’s degree from Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY.

 

Catherine spent the later years of her life working for the Town of Lewisboro and retired at the age of 78. Upon retirement, Catherine filled her days by taking classes at Founders Hall in Ridgefield, CT.

 

Catherine will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. There will be a mass of Christian burial celebrated at Saint Aloysius Church in New Canaan, CT at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 3, 2023.  The family invites those wishing to visit before the mass to gather in the Narthex of the church at 10:00 am. The service will be followed by a private burial.
