Obituary of William A. Wood
William A. Wood, lifelong resident of New Canaan, CT, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 89 at the Norwalk Hospital.
Born January 29, 1932 in New Canaan, CT, he was the son of the late Clarence Wood and Florence Cogswell Wood.
Bill, known to family and friends as “Buzzy,” was retired from the New Canaan Highway Department. He also served as a volunteer fire fighter for the New Canaan Fire Company. He had a love of sports, especially rooting for the local NY teams. As many can attest, he had quite the green thumb & proudly shared his vegetables with friends & family. Bill will always be remembered for his kindness and friendly nature. With a genuine smile and a good-hearted chuckle, he was a friend to everyone who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Bill was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife, Linnea Wood and his brother Cecil Cogswell, both of New Canaan. He is survived by many nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan, CT on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 4:00 - 7:00PM. A private family burial will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 182 South Avenue, New Canaan, CT 06840.
