I did not know that you were living in Connecticut; last I had heard from Betty Coclasure is that you were in France. But I was actually very close to your home last year when I went to a Red Cross deployment for Hurricane Irene in Bridgeport, Ct. That was quite an experience. I was working in the Emergency Operation Center there; it was quite an experience and scarey too. We did get a complementary meal at the Outrigger in Stratford though, which was wonderful. Anyway, like I have said, my thoughts are totally with you. So sorry. Jane

I will always hold dear the fondest memories of our time shared with Ed -- pig roasts on "the island", skiing in Davos where Ed got me to chatter my way down the chest high mogul field from the top, annual ski trips with our kids, marking the kids milestones and achievements, sharing music, food, wine, beer on the porch or the garden at his unique home while discussing major world issues and laughing with a genuine individual who I am proud to have known -- Ed is loved and will be sorely missed.

SuAnne. Sandra and I are sending our heartfelt condolences to you during this very sad and difficult time. I will miss Ed’s “story telling,” thoughtful conversations and emails. That’s easy for me to say because we agreed on most everything. Ed and the Newell’s (Don & Dee) were most helpful to me at the 66-H Spokane reunion last fall by helping me deal with a severe infection which required over one week in the Mayo hospital after I returned to Minnesota. That was typical Ed….being at the front of the line to help or give advise a friend. Ed will be fondly remembered by all of us who had the good fortune of knowing him.

Still so saddened and shocked by the news. Ed will be missed terribly. An outstanding individual that I was glad to spend many family ski trips with. Just before I learned of the news I was hoping to see the family before I left for deployment. It's of small comfort to me that I was able to share a day out on my ship with him back in October.
My thoughts are with the Ramsey's and the many friends that Ed touched throughout his life!

I met Ed only two years ago, and we instantly became friends. We went skiing together to Wyndham perhaps twenty times - Ed was an excellent skier — and we spent many hours talking on those trips. It was mostly Ed talking, as he was an amazing story teller, reminiscing about events which happened fifty years ago. I have never met a person with a mind so curious, always so ready to learn and always so ready to share. His love for his family and his country was exemplary - his pride of being an American was so uplifting. Ed's last e-mail to me, which sadly, was sent just moments before his untimely death, had the subject line: "What a wonderful world". All of us who had the privilege to know Ed will miss him tremendously, as he truly made our world more wonderful.

We will never forget Ed's laugh, or his patient attention to details. A truly creative man, who always made friends where ever he went. (His steam-bent oak flooring in the dome still impresses us as it did nearly 30 years ago.)
We can hear him playing the piano still....
Rest in peace.

I first met Ed when he built his dome. He was looking for help, me for a job. When that was finished I helped him build the spec house next door. He asked me to work for half pay and collect the rest when the house sold, which I agreed to. With a bad economy it took a long time for the house to sell but when it did my phone rang. It was Ed and he said to stop over he had some money for me. He gave me more than we agreed to with interest and a bonus. He was a man of his word. His handshake was his contract. A man with a great smile and a unique laugh that will always ring in my ear. A man who would drop what he was doing to help others. A great American and someone I will truly miss.

Dear Suanne,
My heart broke into pieces earlier when I learned of the sudden, unexpected death of your dear husband, and I cannot imagine the depth of your sorrow.
I wish I had words to comfort and sustain you in your grief, but I know there are none that will take away any pain you are feeling now. My heart aches for you, Suanne, and my arms long to embrace you. Even my knees know your grief, as I have been on them in prayer for you.
Although words seem futile now in the midst of your sorrow, they are all I have to give you. Please accept these written words as warm hugs to wrap yourself in, and know that I am holding you and your family in my heart at this sad and difficult time.
With all my love,
Diane
